Key points
- Unfavorable to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions in areas. Has:
- poorly-encoded 720p cutscenes with artifacts
- pixelated, jagged shadows
- low audio volume
- no support for controller vibration
- broken surround sound outside of 2 or 6 channels
- broken rain translucency (fixable with a custom mod)
- Inconsistent frame rate, with additional features over its predecessor exacerbating the problem.

Essential improvements
Console Content Patch
- This restores and unlocks all DLC normally unavailable in-game due to copyright and licensing issues. It also adds Serah's FFXIII outfit as a bonus.
Leviathan's Tears Mod
- The PC version's rain has broken translucency. This replaces it with parameters for a higher resolution version of the original PS3's rain textures.

Issues unresolved
2560x1440 unsupported
- Selecting 2560x1440 in the launcher may result in an internal rendering resolution that looks like 1280x720. Running the game at 1920x1080 or 3840x2160 both work as expected. At 2560x1440, the framerate pacer remover may cause the game, from the Square-Enix logo onward, to run at about 0.5 FPS. Disabling the framerate pacer remover, or changing the presentation resolution, both resolve this issue.
Inconsistent frame rate
- The section on this issue for Final Fantasy XIII applies to this game as well, workarounds included. The game complicates this issue further with depth of field and additional post-processing effect rendering issues.
- If all else fails, try removing the in-game frame rate pacer. Doing so will remove the game's logic that locks the frame rate when it falls below refresh rate intervals.[2] Note that the 60 FPS cap remains and this currently causes input lag and visual slowdowns when refresh rate thresholds aren't met due to the game tying certain aspects of gameplay to the frame rate,[3] and Steam removes the modification when verifying or updating the main executable.
- Other side effects of removing the frame rate pacer include removing the 30 FPS lock on out-of-engine cutscenes causing their animation to run at up to twice the intended speed and improving loading times on loading screens that utilize and trigger the in-game frame rate pacer. This also may cause the in-game visuals to freeze on start up in windowed mode.
- Note: I'm not sure which cutscenes the above is referring to, but the dealbreaker for me on removing the framerate pacer was that the in-engine cutscene animations run twice as fast, meaning the characters' lip syncing is all completely wrong.

Shadows appear pixelated and jagged
Controller vibration doesn't work
Audio volume is low
Crashes when loading a new area

Character runs off screen in opening battle
- There is a game-breaking bug where the character can run off screen in the first battle, rendering the current game unplayable. Restart the game to try again.
Issues fixed
Launcher doesn't launch
Broken surround sound & buzzing sound
- This issue occurs when not in stereo (2 channels) or 6 channel mode due to the game incorrectly filling audio buffers, causing buzzing audio and incorrect voice positioning.[6][7]
Set your sound card to use stereo (2 channels) or 6 channel modes[8] |

Try setting the FFXiii2Launcher.exe compatibility to Vista or Windows 7 |

Rain appears as white lines
- The translucency of rain is lower and looks like white lines, much worse than the console versions. See Leviathan's Tears Mod for a fix.
