Unlock definition: Purchase of microtransaction content that affects gameplay and is not solely cosmetic. This is normally part of the main game that other players have access to and is 'locked', and can be 'unlocked' with a purchase. This includes characters, weapons, items, skills etc.

Examples:

Apex Legends sells 'Legends' which are new characters with significant multiplayer gameplay changes.
