Quake Live is a tweaked version of the 1999 FPS Quake III: Arena.
It was originally released as a browser game on August 6, 2010, then ported back to the PC on January 10, 2014. While initially free-to-play with premium options, it was converted to a one-time purchase model on October 27, 2015.[1] Players who have had Quake Live installed with their Steam ID previously are grandfathered in and do not have to purchase.[2][3]
OS X and Linux support was dropped on December 17, 2013.[4]
Mod support via Steam Workshop added October 27, 2015.[5]
