Video
Edit video.scr[citation needed]
|
- Go to the configuration file(s) location.
- Open
video.scr with a text editor.
- Add the following line to the bottom of the file:
ExtraGameFov(x) .
- Replace x with a number, which will increase the vertical FOV by that amount (20 equates to 72° vertical (102° horizontal on a 16:9 monitor) FOV).
|
Disable sun shadows
- Significant performance improvement.
- Reduction in visual quality.
- The game will not allow for multiplayer with people who have default files.[5]
Create a new varlist_performance.scr in Data3.pak[6]
|
- Extract the original varlist_performance.scr from Data0.pak
- Go
<path-to-game>\DW\ .
- Extract or open Data0.pak and navigate to
data/scripts/varlist_performance.scr (Using an archive manager such as 7-Zip or Ubuntu's "Archive Manager".)
- Edit varlist_performance.scr and move it to Data3.pak
- Open
varlist_performance.scr with a text editor.
- Search for
VarInt and change the following to ("i_shadows_sun_on", 0) .
- Copy the modified
varlist_performance.scr to Data3.pak/data/scripts (ie. maintaining the subfolder structure).
- Remove any extracted Data0.pak files (Do not remove the Data0.pak file itself).
|
Input
- It's impossible to perform a slide while sprinting when Crouch Toggle is Disabled
Xbox controller settings.
- Some keys (e.g. "change arrow/bolt type") cannot be remapped in-game.
Remap keys which cannot be remapped in-game[citation needed]
|
- Go to
<path-to-game>\DW\ and open Data0.pak with 7-Zip.
- Extract the file
inputs_keyboard.scr in folder data\scripts\inputs\ .
- Open the extracted file with a text editor (e.g. Sublime Text, Notepad++) and look for the action you want to change and edit the associated key (looks like "EKey__A").
- Save the file.
- Open
Data3.pak with 7-Zip.
- Create the following subfolders:
data\scripts\inputs\ , i.e. the folder structure in this file must be the same as in the original file.
- Add the modified
inputs_keyboard.scr into the inputs folder you just created in Data3.pak .
- Close 7-Zip.
- Start game.
Notes
- For example, the key for changing the arrow/bolt type is bound to R and cannot be changed in-game. If you want to change this, you have to edit the following two lines in
inputs_keyboard.scr :
AddAction(_ACTION_QUICK_ARROWS, EInputTarget_HUD, EInputDevice_Keyboard, false, EKey__R, false, true);
AddAction(_ACTION_QUICK_BOLTS, EInputTarget_HUD, EInputDevice_Keyboard, false, EKey__R, false, true);
|
Vertical mouse sensitivity
- The vertical mouse sensitivity may be too high on the Linux version.
Set sensitivity only for the vertical axis
|
- Go to
<path-to-game>\DW\ and open Data0.pak with an archive manager.
- Extract the file
default_levels.xml in folder data\skills\ .
- Open the extracted file with a text editor and search for
LookVertSpeed_Mouse .
- Change
<prop n="LookVertSpeed_Mouse" v="0.25"/> to a lower value: <prop n="LookVertSpeed_Mouse" v="0.15"/> .
- Add the modified
default_levels.xml back to the Data0.pak archive and save it.

Issues fixed
Game won't launch on open source AMD drivers on Linux
Override the OpenGL Mesa verison at launch[13]
|
- Use the
MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=4.5 MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=450 %command% command line argument
|
Use the specific OpenGL library for Mesa.[14]
|
Download and unpack the library file into the main game folder and launch the game. In case it won't work, use it with the mentioned launch option from the guide above.

Major FPS drops on Laptop GPUs
- The official System requirements state that laptop GPUs may work but are not officially supported. The Game has major FPS drops on latest notebook GPUs with Hybrid/Graphics Advanced Optimus Mode/Mux Switch, issue is believed to be the game not being compatible with this feature causing it to become inactive after a while or use the iGPU instead of the Dedicated GPU.
Disable Nvidia Optimus
|
- Disable the Mux Switch/Hybrid Graphics Advanced Optimus settings from the BIOS or the Nvidia control panel. This prevents the game from switching GPUs after a while and improves gaming performance in general
|
Use DXVK-Async instead of DX11
|
- Step 1: Download dxvk-async-2.0.tar.gz from https://github.com/Sporif/dxvk-async/releases/tag/2.0, extract dxgi.dll, d3d11.dll from the x64 folder and move them into the game exe folder.
- Step 2: Create file called dxvk.conf inside game exe folder, paste into the file: dxvk.enableAsync = true
|
- Despite being a Widely known issue, Techland has yet to acknowledge this incompatibility issue and it remains unfixed.
"Profile has been changed" game-breaking bug
- The Epic Games Store version seems to be affected by a bug that causes the player to drop out to the main menu, and lose progress, because the player's profile was detected to have been changed.
- There are various possible ways of solving this issue:[15]
Create a fake Profile using a shortcut with specific Parameters.[16]
|
- Go to
<path-to-game> and right-click the game's executable (DyingLightGame.exe ) to create a new shortcut.
- Right-click the shortcut and go to properties.
- Add:
-epicenv=Prod -EpicPortal -epicusername="test" to the target field, so the shortcut points to <path-to-game> \DyingLightGame.exe -epicenv=Prod - EpicPortal -epicusername="test" .
- Save the changes and run the game from the shortcut. The game will be forced to English.
- Tweak the in-game settings to your preference.
- Change any volume slider to any other value.
- Close the game.
- The game can now be played via the Epic Games Launcher as normal; the shortcut can be ignored.
Notes:
- This will also fix a minor bug that resets settings back to default every time the game starts.
