Before We Leave is a game.
In May 2020 the game was self-published on Epic Games Store by Balancing Monkey Games. Through a partnership with Team17 the game was released on Steam in May the following year. In November 2021 Team17 and DO Games ported the game to the Microsoft Store.
As of August 2022 there are two different versions of the game, the original up-to-date Epic Games Store/Steam releases maintained by the original developers, as well as the separate Microsoft Store release maintained by Team17 and DO Games. The Microsoft Store release is based on an older version of the game, specifically the Scenario Update from May 2021.
On July 15, 2022 Team17 confirmed that the Microsoft Store release would not receive the as of then latest update titled The Wasteland Update.[4][5]. The same day, Balancing Monkey Games' creative director mentioned that the Microsoft Store release would likely never receive the earlier September 2021 update titled Planet Editor Update either due to the lack of file sharing making the feature less valuable.[6]
