Essential improvements[edit]

Improved configuration file[edit]

Improves graphical and audio fidelity, unlocks DLC characters and many other things.
Use replacement Coalesced.ini[2]
  1. Go to the configuration file location.
  2. Replace the original Coalesced.ini with the one from this archive.
In Escalation mode, unlocked characters will not work on those that host without the modified file.

Skip intro videos[edit]

Delete/rename video files[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\TransGame\Movies\
  2. Delete or rename these files:
FMV_intro_PC.bik
Logo_Activision.bik
Logo_Activision_PC.bik
Logo_Hasbro_PC.bik
Logo_HighMoon_PC.bik
TF_InitialStartup.bik

Game data[edit]

Configuration file location[edit]

System Location
Windows <path-to-game>\TransGame\Config\PC\Cooked
<path-to-game>\TransGame\Localization\PC\Cooked
Coalesced.ini needs to be decoded before it can be edited;[3] use TF Games Configuration Utility. Coalesced.int contains localization settings and must also be decoded.

Save game data location[edit]

System Location
Windows %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Transformers\TransGame\SaveData

Anisotropic filtering (AF)
Default is 4 samples; use improved config file for 16 samples.
Anti-aliasing (AA)
High Quality graphics setting uses unknown form of post process AA. Sampling-based AA can be forced through Nvidia Inspector with 0x00000245 AA compatibility flag;[4] alternatively you can turn FXAA in Coalesced.ini
Vertical sync (Vsync)
60 FPS
30 FPS default cap; see High frame rate.
120+ FPS
30 FPS default cap; see High frame rate.

Borderless fullscreen windowed[edit]

Use external programs[citation needed]
  1. Install GeDoSaTo.
  2. Edit the TWFC profile.
  3. Add this setting: forceBorderlessFullscreen 1
  4. Start the game, toggle fullscreen mode on and then off.
  5. Use Borderless Gaming to remove the window borders.

High frame rate[edit]

The game is capped at 30 FPS without this tool.
Use FPS unlocker[5]
  1. Download FPS Cap Unlocker and run it alongside the game.
  2. Press Num 0 to toggle between locked and unlocked FPS.

Notes

If you intend to play the game online, log into your War for Cybertron account before you activate the toggle at the main menu.
Because of the game's dependence on the frame rate being 30 FPS for light blink timing and other mechanics, your vehicle hover mode's sensitivity and any situations using this configuration like the Omega Missile Killstreak and spectator camera, will be significantly lower than the standard one. A way to reduce this effect is to cap the frame rate to a lower value (e.g. 60 FPS).

Issues fixed[edit]

Game not launching (without an error or a message)[edit]

There are three main ways to fix this issue, which is a symptom of three different unrelated problems.

OS compatibility[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Transformers War for Cybertron\Binaries
  2. Set compatibility mode of TWFC.exe to Windows XP.
Incomplete PhysX installation[citation needed]
  1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\PhysX\Common and copy all files within that folder.
  2. Paste them into Binaries in the installation folder.
  3. Now the game should run.
Corrupted Coalesced.ini
  1. Make copies of the lines of config you changed so you can incorporate them back into your new Coalesced.ini that steam will replace
  2. Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache in Steam on the game's Properties > Local Files Tab
  3. Steam will download a fresh vanilla Coalesced.ini.
  4. Now the game should run.

Other information[edit]

Increase the Quality of the Graphics[edit]

Edit Coalesced.ini to change some settings such as Motion Blur, Depth of Field, FXAA, Bloom, Distortion etc.

Instructions[citation needed]
  1. Open the decoded Coalesced.ini
  2. Change the values or status on the config lines and set graphics to Extra on the in-game settings
  3. Make sure you change both pairs in: SystemSettings & SystemSettingsEditor
  4. DO NOT COPY AND PASTE THIS INTO YOUR INI FILE! THIS IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE OF THE THINGS YOU MAY CHOOSE TO EDIT!
