Ultrawide is definitely not working as intended in Adr1ft. It's just not adding horizontal field of view, even with max fov (which by the way is extremely bugged in this game and will only expand the helmet's size instead of adding actual field of view). Proper ultrawide support necessarily means hor. scaling, otherwise it's a severely flawed implementation, morever if it can't be "fixed" with a higher fov like in this case. If you want to keep the page as is I think at least there should be a warning somewhere letting people know that the ultrawide resolutions are not working properly, and definitely not up to a "gold medal" standard.

Keith (talkcontribs)

I see. As far as I'm aware the Vert- is a common issue with UE4 games. Did you try the Hor+ scaling fix documented here and see if that alleviates the issue?

Mirror's Edge edits

Hi

Your recent edit on the Mirror's Edge page has a few issues IMO (and actual errors).

1. Why was Origin Fix removed from the Essential Improvements section? It does more than cleaning up PhysX files which is where you've now listed it. 2. The FOV table included the bug involving FOV lowering when the player dies, why was this info removed? It is also now unclear as whether the FOV is adjustable in-game, there is less clarity as to why one would need the ME Tweaks mod. 3. While ME Tweaks does technically adjust the "framerate" of PhysX objects (it's actually the timestep), I don't think it makes sense to bundle it with the video FPS - really they are two separate things. The PhysX mod was already listed in the PhysX Notes section anyway. 4. Second intro skip method "Make file changes" lists MEMLA as required - this is incorrect, as stated further below, MEMLA is required only for the edited config files existing in the game directory, not the config path.

Keith (talkcontribs)

You're right; thanks for looking over it. I made few errors while I was simplifying stuff. Made the changes you talked about, so hopefully looks good now.

I basically moved the Origin Fix because it didn't appear relevant to other versions of the game like Steam or Gog. Therefore, it wasn't *essential* for every player, hence why I moved it elsewhere I thought was more appropriate. Either way it doesn't bother me.

Thanks. I fixed it.

On max payne's page you've written an instruction on capping the frame rate with "d3d9 wrapper", but is that necessary?

When using d3d8to9 (either standalone or through ThirteenAG's fix) or dgvoodoo2, the game's vsync works and caps the fps, as you've already pointed out in the Video section.

I haven't tested the game extensively. Does the gameplay break at common monitor high refresh rates too, 120-240 Hz?

Keith (talkcontribs)

Vsync should not be used as a frame limiter in such cases like these.

Reason being is that if you're using a high refresh rate, like you mentioned 120-240 Hz or even 360 Hz which is now a thing, the frame rate will be able to go too high without a real frame rate capping solution. One example of a solution is d3d9 wrapper, which will work independently of any refresh rate you happen to be using.

You can find others listed at the glossary page.

Eddmanx (talkcontribs)

Out of curiosity, what's the highest fps the game can run at without having issues?

Keith (talkcontribs)

I couldn't say myself; I didn't notice anything overtly broken during my playthroughs at 120 FPS.

I've only read other user reports about physics breaking at "uncapped" frame rates, which I'm assuming is somewhere in the range of 200-300+.

The NieR "series" is basically a spin-off of Drakengard, based on a certain side-ending of Drakengard 3 if I remember it correctly. As none of the main Drakengard otherwise exists within the NieR universe nor do they have PC ports, I don't really think we need to name the series for Drakengard.

If one of those games eventually comes to PC as well, the NieR series would basically be a child series to the Drakengard series.

Do you agree? :)

Keith (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I suppose. I just based the rename off of the official title series on Wikipedia.

pre.load file starlancer fix

2
Choum (talkcontribs)

Hello,

Can you explain a little more how to do you create the pre.load file and where do you put it for the starlancer creative alchemy fix ?

Thanks

Keith (talkcontribs)

Hi there,

I didn't add that fix myself, but I imagine you would create a blank file called pre.load (basically a text document with the .load extension), then open the file with Notepad, add the text dsound.dll, and save it in the installation folder for the game.

However, if that doesn't work, try asking at PCGW forums or Discord.

"SH2 Enhancements" Mod

Hi Keith,

The version of the SH2 Enhancements mod you included in the latest revision of the SH2 PC Gaming Wiki page is not ready yet for general public use (hence why it was under a "testing" link). I reverted the guide back in the meantime. I am collaborating with its creator and, once the revised mod is working at a level Elisha is satisfied with, the mod will be released on the main GitHub repository for it and the "Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition Installation Guide" will also be updated accordingly. The page here was reverted to avoid having people use a WIP build and having conflicting information here vs. on the installation guide. Thanks

Keith (talkcontribs)

I see. :) My bad for the premature edit!

Did you test the fps cap removal? Because for me the game has no GameUserSettings.ini (probably since it has its own file where it saves all the settings to) and creating one doesn't help either. I found an alternative way by hex editing the config save file ConfigSlot0.sav. Just wanted to ask first before changing it.

Keith (talkcontribs)

Hi. The fix was working the last time I tested it. Maybe something changed in the meantime. I'm away from my PC so I can't confirm it right now. If you say you have a new solution, feel free to change it. :-)

Are you sure about this? I don't think id tech ever had anything beside OGL and Vulkan (recently)

Keith (talkcontribs)

You're right I'll revert that, thanks for pointing it out.

Blackbird (talkcontribs)

No probs. I don't own the game so I can't check it myself, but it seemed odd to me they'd add it after all this time.
