Essential improvements[edit]

Skip intro videos[edit]

Create a dummy video file[3]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Video\
  2. Backup intro_Microids.par file.
  3. Create a new text file.
  4. Rename the file to intro_Microids.par.
  5. Start the game.

Notes

Deleting video files instead of creating empty ones will cause a CTD.

Create a .ini file[4]
  1. Create a file named player.ini in the installation folder with the following content:
    800 600 16 0 BaseCMO.cmo
  2. Save the file.
  3. Start the game.

Notes

In order to disable windowed mode just delete the .ini file or change 0 to 1.

Issues fixed[edit]

3D Engine Error[edit]

3D engine initialization failed error or a 3D accelerator not found error (commonly found in Windows 8 and later).
Instructions[citation needed]
  1. Download dgVoodoo2.
  2. Copy the files from the MS folder to the installation folder.
  3. Optionally, use dgVoodooSetup.exe to disable the dgVoodoo2 watermark and force higher antialiasing options instead of using the in-game option.

Notes

If the game runs in a window at the top left area of the desktop after using dgVoodoo2, use Alt+ Enter to toggle to fullscreen.

Notes

  1. SafeDisc retail DRM does not work on Windows 10[1] and is disabled by default on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 when the KB3086255 update is installed.[2]
  2. 2.0 2.1 File/folder structure within this directory reflects the path(s) listed for Windows and/or Steam game data (use Wine regedit to access Windows registry paths). Games with Steam Cloud support may store data in ~/.steam/steam/userdata/<user-id>/46550/ in addition to or instead of this directory. The app ID (46550) may differ in some cases. Treat backslashes as forward slashes. See the glossary page for details.
