Nightfire Open (formerly known as Afterburner) is a multiplayer Open-source reboot of James Bond 007: Nightfire on the Xash3D FWGS engine.

The game was originally released in alpha version 0.2 on Mod DB under the name Afterburner on November 27, 2019. Four years later the codebase of the game has moved to a new repository due to the original codebase being tied to the upstream engine's codebase, hence detrimental [1], and the game renamed to Nightfire Open. On August 8, 2023, v1 was released on Github [2].

Currently, the latest version is v5 and it was released on March 10, 2024 on Github for both Windows and Linux [3].
