The GoldSrc engine is based on the original Quake engine, and carries over many of its problems. In 2013, the GoldSrc engine was ported to a new codebase utilizing SDL2 and OpenGL, allowing all the games using it to be largely cross-platform.
Issues
The game speed is tied to the framerate, and can cause problems with physics with framerates in excess of 100.
