Skip intro videos[edit]

Fix -skip_intro

  1. Find Payday 2 in your Steam Library.
  2. Right-click the game name.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Select Set Launch Options....
  5. Input -skip_intro.
  6. Press OK.
  7. Launch the game.

Improving Graphics[edit]

There are multiple ways to improve the way Payday 2 looks, using GEM is a good place to start, using an injector such as SweetFX will also help.

The game utilizes a chromatic aberration filter (color separation) which blurs textures and increases the effects of aliasing. The GEM project's Payday 2 package includes a utility to delete this filter from the game's data files, but the change may be reverted by game updates.

Issues fixed[edit]

Main Menu gets excessively brighter upon launching the game[edit]

Fix Ensure that your videocard driver's application settings are set to default. [4]

  1. For AMD cards, open up Catalyst Control Center and ensure System Settings under Gaming are set to "Use application settings".

Fix Do not use third-party program SMAA.

  1. If you are using a third-party program such as RadeonPro in the case of AMD, ensure that SMAA is set to Off. Also opening and closing the Steam overlay may help to rectify this problem.

Not fitting fullscreen despite running at 1080p/Black screen when selecting 1080p[edit]

Fix Change renderer settings file

Information Sometimes PAYDAY 2 does not fit entirely to the user's screen even though the resolution is set to 1920x1080.
  1. Open %LOCALAPPDATA%\PAYDAY 2\renderer_settings.xml
  2. There are two lines of text. On the bottom line, find where it says resolution= and make sure that's followed by 1920 1080.
  3. Finally, then look for refresh_rate= and make sure that's followed by 60.
  4. The game should be running entirely in full screen now.

Mouse input delay[edit]

Fix Disable multi-threading[5]

  1. Open <path-to-game>\context.xml
  2. Find multithreaded="true"
  3. Replace with multithreaded="false"

Fix Change flip queue size to 0 or 1[6]

Information AMD users should try RadeonPro
Information Nvidia users can look in the "Manage 3D Settings" section of the graphic card control panel

Play on Intel HD3000 & HD4000[edit]

Fix Custom .dll light-wrapper[7]

  1. Download Nvidia d3d9 perf fix
  2. Extract d3d9.dll into <path-to-game>

Double mouse cursor after Alt+Tab[edit]

Information Needs verification; option not present on Windows Vista.

Fix Disable allowing themes to change mouse pointers[8]

  1. Go to Control Panel, Mouse, Pointers tab
  2. Uncheck "Allow themes to change mouse properties".

Fix Refocus window workaround

  1. Press alt + tab and navigate to game to bring it forward/'focused', if you are focused on another window in front (such as a browsers). Then cycle through alt + tab again once you have brough the game forward and continue to hold when the selection is poised over the game.
  2. Position cursor inside game window and click repeatedly immediately after you release alt + tab
  3. This will allow the game to refocus.
