Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is a singleplayer third-person open world and TPS game in the Deadly Premonition series.

Originally released as a Nintendo Switch exclusive on July 10, 2020, it was later revealed through Thunderful Group's 2020 annual report that the game would be coming to Steam in 2021.[2] After an extended period of silence, the game was shadowdropped on June 11, 2022.

The game is missing basic resolution settings, display mode settings, and other PC-specific options. The game does not support keyboard and mouse and uses the Nintendo Switch controller layout remapped onto a Xbox controller, which results in unusual controller bindings, such as B being confirm, while A is cancel.

Sui's Hack

Sui's Hack is a Melon Loader mod that allows the player to configure many graphics options, while also adding PlayStation button prompts and more conventional ones for Xbox controllers.

  2. Under the Automatic tab, click Select and navigate to the game's directory.
  3. Select DeadlyPremonition2.exe and click Open, then click Install.

Notes:

To configure the hack, press F11 while in-game.

Ultra-widescreen
Natively locked at 16:9. Use Sui's Hack or see Force screen resolution for a workaround.
4K Ultra HD
Game is rendered at 1080p internally with no resolution selection. Use Sui's Hack or see Force screen resolution for higher resolutions.
Field of view (FOV)
Windowed
No in-game option; can be changed between borderless fullscreen and windowed with Alt+ Enter. Defaults to borderless fullscreen on launch.
Borderless fullscreen windowed
Anisotropic filtering (AF)

FXAA. Can be modified using Sui's Hack.
Vertical sync (Vsync)

60 FPS
120+ FPS
Camera movement is locked to 50 FPS, so there is judder when the refresh rate is not a multiple of 50 (50 Hz, 100 Hz, etc.).
High dynamic range display (HDR)
Uses HDR Rendering with tone mapping the final image to LDR.[4] See the glossary page for potential workarounds.
Ray tracing (RT)
The game engine may allow for manual configuration of the game via its variables. See the Unity page for more details.

Force screen resolution

Use a third party program to force the game to your desktop resolution[5]

This can be done with at least two methods:

  1. Use Special K to overwrite the resolution via the in-game Special K overlay. To do this click your window resolution in the aforementioned overlay at the top and it should activate. Because it doesn't stay upon re-launching, you must go into the overlay and re-click "Override Resolution" or "window resolution" to get it to change it again.
  2. Use Borderless Gaming. Once the game is loaded press Alt+ Enter to get it to go into windowed mode and then use Borderless Gaming to force it back to borderless windowed mode. This time it should be at your desktops resolution.

This also works to get rid of the pillarboxes for 21:9; game is Hor+ and UI mostly scales well. However, some UI elements that were not meant to be seen seem visible.

The canera does use HDR and it has HDR buffer, but Unity 2018.4 does not support HDR displays (feature added in 2019.4).

Tested this works on a 3440x1440 screen via both Special K and Borderless Gaming.
