Essential improvements[edit]

Set Video.scr to "Read-only" after editing it.

Skip intro videos[edit]

Use replacement Intro_720p.wmv

Apply the Call of Juarez: Gunslinger intro skip.

Disable the hand-painted comic border[edit]

The border is only disabled during gameplay but remains visible in the menus.

Edit Video.scr
  1. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
  2. Edit Video.scr
  3. Go to the end of the file and add DisableScreenBorder()

Disable letterboxing[edit]

This removes the black bars on the top and bottom of the screen during gameplay.

Edit Video.scr
  1. Go to %LOCALAPPDATA%\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
  2. Edit Video.scr
  3. Go to the end of the file and add RenderViewportProportion(x, y), replacing x and y with the horizontal and vertical values of the resolution you are running the game in.

(For example; it should be RenderViewportProportion(1920, 1080) if you are running the game in 1920x1080)

Change hip fire & ADS sensitivity[edit]

Edit default_levels.xml
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\coj4
  2. Open Data0.pak with 7-Zip or similar.
  3. In it go to the folder Skills and open the file default_levels.xml
  4. Copy & paste archive password: TN2kTjNmBvn5axaS6tGY
  5. Hip fire: <prop n="LookVertSpeed_Mouse" v="0.25"/> <prop n="LookHorzSpeed_Mouse" v="0.25"/>
  6. ADS: <prop n="LookAimVertSpeed_Mouse" v="0.125"/> <prop n="LookAimHorzSpeed_Mouse" v="0.125"/>
  7. Change all four to the same value (e.g. 0.025). That way ADS sensitivity will only scale with FOV which is good for muscle memory.
  8. Save on exit and update the archive.
