Key points

Based on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. Meaning it does not contain Wii-exclusive suits.
The PC port is missing several graphical elements such as bloom, motion blur, character outlines (while locked on/detected with Spidey Sense) and some particle effects from its console counterparts, as well as having a massively reduced Draw Distance and LOD (Level of Detail) as many assets, such as trees in central park and objects on top of some buildings won't appear unless the camera is very close to them, resulting in severely worse presentation.[citation needed] The 1.1 patch mostly addresses the LOD issue, resulting in a couple missions harder to complete, see Patches
The lack of a 30fps cap results in numerous adversary effects to the game (the higher framerate, the worse the effect), including:
  • The mission of preventing the gas station from exploding gets harder to complete - it takes less time for the station's HP bar to drop to 0. Also affected are similar HP bars of defended objects, Rhino Rage meter filling up quicker, etc.,
  • Net hits become more difficult to perform,
  • Mouse sensitivity and overall camera controls rely on frame rate,
  • Some 2D elements, such as neon arrows, may animate faster and some, like the menu background, water effects and distant smoke may be capped to 30 FPS.

Essential improvements

Patches

The 1.1 patch updates the game to the latest version.
This patch fixes some graphics issues, adds more settings to the launcher (shadows, particle effects, special effects) .
Substantially improves Draw Distance and LOD; Although, it's still inferior to the console versions.
Depending on your system configuration, it may also introduce stuttering. It may also cap the frame rate to 30 during the transition between gameplay and in-engine cutscene.

120+ FPS
The game has a 60 Hz refresh rate cap which can't be overwritten with GPU control panel. Use DxWnd to overwrite the refresh rate by running the game in windowed or borderless mode while a higher refresh rate is selected; However, double buffered v-sync will be forced and can lead to stuttering if the target frame rate is not always achieved. Due to the game not being able to use multi-core CPUs correctly, high frame rates are difficult to achieve on modern systems.

Stuttering

#Disable Vsync On Game Laucher And Run Game
  1. Start Task Manager (Right Click on the Start Bar and select Task Manager)
  2. Click on the Processes tab
  3. Right Click on the Spider-Man Web of Shadows.exe and select "Set Priority"
  4. You can then select a different priority.
  5. Close Task Manager And Back To Game.

High Frame Rate Issues

Because the PC version removers the 30fps limit from the console version, can cause gameplay elements to malfunction at high fps (60fps or higher)

Cap the framerate to 30fps using Nvidia Inspector or Rivaturner
