WTF is Alternative Installer anyway???

Ok so I just got here to check out what this game needs in order to run on modern OS and I noticed this "alternative installer" link. It says "Install the game patched to version 1.04 and set the location for save files". I click on it and it leads me to mega, where I can download, what looks like to be a installer of the whole game, that has size of 1.3 MB. I download it, start installation and it says that it will install the full Resident Evil 2 game on my computer after I chose the directory to where I wanted to install the game. So I do that, I start installation but then the error pops up, saying that it can't find "Leon CD" and that I have to insert that "Leon CD" disc in to my cd drive and try again. So my question is: WTF is that? I this some kind of a scam or what? Like, why would you post a link to a installer that doesn't even let you to install the game, despite the fact that the installer itself says that it WILL install full Resident Evil 2 game on my PC??? WTF IS THIS PIECE OF SCAM ANYWAY???

Like, if this is a patch then why would you say in the description to the link that it will install fully patched game on my computer when it's not gonna do that??? WHY??? The same with the installer. Why would it say that it will install the full game, when in reality it doesn't do shit?! What kind of a scam is this anyway???

Hi,

An "alternate installer" is exactly that -- it is an alternate installer to the original one. These alternate installers usually comes with improved compatibility with modern operating systems, allowing them to install the game where the original installer would otherwise fail due to compatibility issues. These alternate installers only replaces the installer; they do not remove the dependency on the original game discs.

Also note that PCGW does not condone piracy, nor covers information pertaining to pirated copies of games. If the installer was found out to be redistributing a copy of the whole game, it does not belong on this site and would be removed.

To use that alternative installer, it's necessary to mount both CDs on the same drive letter.
