Issues fixed

Game does not launch

Rename the main EXE file[5]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\Binaries\Win32
  2. Rename DungeonDefenders.exe to DungeonDefenders.old
  3. Rename DunDefGame.exe to DungeonDefenders.exe
  4. Launch the game.

Connectivity Issues

You may receive a message "Connection to host has been lost". This is a misleading error message indicating that you do not have DLC owned by the host.

Failed to Create Game

Uninstall hamachi or if you have Virtualbox/VMware installed disable their network adapters

Other information

Launch directly to game and skip the launcher

Use the -nosplash command line argument[citation needed]

Configuration tweaks

Edit UDKEngine.ini[6]
Before changing any of the entries in the below file, please make a backup of file for safety.
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\UDKGame\Config\
  2. Open UDKEngine.ini
  3. Make the changes below.
  4. After making modifications to UDKEngine.ini, set file to read-only to prevent game client from resetting changes that were made. Steam will reset this game file if it needs to verify the game cache - make a backup as needed.
  • Best Quality - Most extreme performance hit to system - Can affect frame rate
  • High Quality = Recommended of fully DirectX 10/11 compliant video card - Possible impact on frame rate
  • Better Quality = Recommended of DirectX 9/10/11 compliant video card - Minimal impact on frame rate

Full Screen Split-Screen With Dual Monitors

Set up dual monitors[citation needed]
  1. Enable Eyefinity or Nvidia Surround mode using the two monitors you want to use.
  2. Run Dungeon Defenders and set the resolution (via the launcher options menu) to the resolution of the display group (e.g. 3840x1080).
  3. In-game, set the split-screen mode to Vertical.

Notes

The menu will be in between the two monitors - This can be difficult to see.

Radeon Enhanced Sync Incompatibility (Stuck at 40FPS with framedrops)

Disable Radeon Enhanced Sync[citation needed]
  1. Open AMD Radeon Settings
  2. Go to the Gaming tab and select "Dungeon Defenders Eternity" (It will show as eternity instead of the original game). This will be pre-selected if you have the game already open.
  3. Toggle "Radeon Enhanced Sync" to off.

Notes

It is unclear why the incompatibility exists. Radeon Chill will still function to cap FPS if you have unlocked it past the regular cap.
