Use the Outer Wilds resolutions unlocker[6]
|
- Download the patcher.
- Use it to modify
<path-to-game>\OuterWilds_Data\globalgamemanagers
- Unlocks the 21:9 aspect ratio, all applicable and other resolutions, including 2560x1080, 3840x1080, 5120x2160 and 5760x1080.
- Results in Hor+ FOV and no pillarboxing at most of the resolutions.
- 5760x1080 is somewhat pillarboxed, and the settings menus are impossible to navigate.
- Some of the Input settings elements will overlap. Temporarily switching back to 1920x1080 allows to modify them.
|
Enable wider screen support by adding 3840x2160 as a custom resolution.[7]
|
- This results in Hor+ FOV at 2560x1080, 3440x1440 and 3840x1080. 5120x2160 and 5760x1080 will be pillarboxed.
- Some of the Input settings elements will overlap. Temporarily switching back to 1920x1080 allows to modify them.

|
Raise frame rate cap[citation needed]
|
- Go to
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Mobius Digital\Outer Wilds\
- Create a new file called
secretsettings.txt .
- Open it and add the line
PhysicsRate=120 where 120 is the desired frame rate.
- This changes the rate at which physics calculations are performed, which has a strong impact on performance.
