It was founded in July 2012 as Oculus VR Inc., and is primary developing and producing virtual reality headsets. In 2014, Oculus VR was acquired by Facebook (later become Meta) and was renamed to Facebook Reality Labs in 2020, before it was renamed again to just Reality Labs in 2022.
Reality Labs has numerous subsidiary game studios within its Oculus Studio division.
