Like I have written on the article, game does support widescreen resolutions, but only menus are 16:9 widescreen and game is always 4:3 either original (1:1 scaling only), full (use max width/height without stretching) and stretch which stretches the game to fill up whole selected resolution, even widescreen (which only fool would use).
