Direct links instead of use of refs

4
Marioysikax (talkcontribs)

Would it be better to directly link to Humble Mumble block post in table instead of reffing it meaning user having to click the ref and then again the actual link. Ref link is pretty much useless as there are space and it's not between huge amount of text or anything.

Ref list right now is also pretty much useless as you can browse it better by going to actual blog they are from.

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Personally I find references to be less distracting then having repeating outgoing links. But it's really just an opinion.

Mirh (talkcontribs)

Or we could have something like wikipedia, where moving mouse over references actually display the effective one on the bottom of the page

Marioysikax (talkcontribs)

This is definitly matter that comes down to preference. However I personally feel like simple direct link with text "Blog" or "Humble Mumble" would do better job as it directly says what it is.

Mirhs suggested hovering popup thingy would be bit better in respect that it would then also show block posts title directly and also would work with other pages. But still all the refs are basically to same blog anyway.

Right now the OS icons are ordered Linux, Windows, and OS X. For the most part, the ordering of OS' has always been Windows, OS X, and Linux. This is true of Steam, GOG.com (sans Linux), Desura, most pages on this wiki, and the Humble Bundle pages themselves. This is also usually true of the release order per operating system. While this a minor detail, I think it would be preferable to order it in the most common way. We should be able to change this with a simple "Find and Replace All".

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Well, this order does one thing nicely, and that's keeping the Windows icon in a single column across the whole page. I find that highly preferable, and I'm sure no one is confused by the order being different than on other services or other pages on the wiki.

Garrett (talkcontribs)

I have changed the OS order for this page as well as Humble Store.

Lists for non-game bundles

As this page keeps growing, is there actually any need for us to keep the lists of ebook, comedy or mobile bundles? This is definitely outside the scope, taken care of better by Wikipedia and no one even appears to bother to maintain that section. The page is already the longest page on the wiki (by far), and will only keep growing. I'd say it's best we trim that section replaced with a paragraph outlining why they are not listed there.

Thoughts, opinions, ideas?

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

I'd suggest we link to the Wikipedia page in the replacement section, but I'm all for this.

Soundtracks for the Humble Mojam 2

1
Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

The only game with the soundtrack officially listed on the Humble Bundle page is Space Hunk. The other games soundtracks are available in their downloads, though not neatly packaged. Should these be considered as yes' or no's in the chart?

Bought the Humble Mojam 2 Bundle

Once the games are finished how should I go about making the pages? Currently the Mojam 1 games are of fairly poor quality, e.g. Catacomb Snatch. I was also wondering if they should be called "Game Name (Prototype)" or just "Game Name".

Nicereddy (talkcontribs)

I've added pages for Edge and NightSky_HD. Neither are fully complete but they have a good start. How can I go about getting them counted on the list?

I apologize I can't post this on the forums, it won't let me log into them.

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

Thanks a bunch! The list is done manually, so I usually just edit it when I'm around and notice new articles have since appeared.

Don't worry about using the talk page instead, that's what they're here for, but I wonder what might be the problem with the forums not letting you log in. To not clutter this page with unrelated issues, feel free to pop into IRC about that or shoot support an email.

Humble Bundle not Indie

Jmaa (talkcontribs)

I feel that the name of the page should be Humble Bundle, now that they are doing stuff like THQ-bundle and stuff.

Not that big of a issue.

Anonymous (talkcontribs)

I don't see the point of moving this page just because they did one non-indie bundle, especially it's hard to define indie. Shank was published by EA, Bastion by Warner and there were other cases, so in reality it'd be best for it to stay this way for now.

Andytizer (talkcontribs)

This is something to consider in the future, and will depend on the future that the Humble Bundles take. Happy for it to stay as it is for the time being.

Cheeseness (talkcontribs)

I'm not too fussed with the page title, but for the sake of clarity, it's worth mentioning that according to the Humble Bundle guys, there have been 13 "non-Indie" bundles (Frozenbyte Bundle, Voxatron Debut, Android bundle, Music bundle, eBook bundle, etc., none of which they count as "Humble Indie Bundles").

There's some discussion regarding including "Indie" on the Wikipedia talk page as well.

What I don't understand is that on the talk page, Masem said, "But again, per WP:CN, there's more hits on HIB than just HB."

My view is to have the name reflect the most popular search term.. I'm not quite sure why Masem would have made that incorrect claim?

Should this really be under the Game Category?

Forcen (talkcontribs)

Seems a tad weird.

Newmansan (talkcontribs)

Seeing as they are bundles of games, I see no problem.
