- 16:55, 4 October 2022 diff hist +136 Red Faction Undo revision 1296639 by Mrtnptrs (talk) To be entirely clear on this - it's not the case that the game may not function as desired if some settings are changed, it's that if the user doesn't configure these values at all, the game literally will not launch. This is not obvious when doing a manual install (since every other option on the options panel is truly optional), and therefore should be cited to avoid guaranteed problems. Tag: Undo
- 16:51, 4 October 2022 diff hist -11 Red Faction →Version differences: Very minor edit - v1.21 didn't actually resolve any graphical issues that aren't more accurately described as compatibility issues (ie. incompatibility with certain GPUs).
- 16:47, 4 October 2022 diff hist +136 Red Faction Reverting good faith contribution - these settings are not set by default if not using the automated installer, and if the user neglects to manually configure them, the game will not function. I removed the previously provided recommendations for resolution and color depth, keeping only the suggested value for rendering cache (since that's not at all obvious), and directions on how to populate the multiplayer tracker field.

If user customizes these options without understanding what they do, they could unintentionally severely impact their ability to play the multiplayer.

- 02:13, 3 October 2022 diff hist -907 Red Faction →Dash Faction: Several adjustments to reduce confusion: FactionFiles is the most reliable source for the latest setup file (and is linked from the project's github page). Manual install is unnecessary in all but very niche cases, but commonly causes confusion for users. A link to the instructions on the actively maintained community wiki (which is always kept up to date as new versions are released), is best, but I'll leave both for now. Note the wiki page is protected from editing.
