Key points
- No rechargeable battery, slot for two AA batteries (Up to 90 hours of gameplay without headphones and 24 hours while streaming audio).
- Indicator lights at the top of the controller indicate which player number the controller has been assigned.
- LED to display controller connectivity status, low battery indicator, and software updates.
- Vibration motors for tactile feedback during gameplay.
- Only the first generation of the controller had Bluetooth support that made it more or less possible to connect to a PC. The second generation used a direct Wi-Fi connection to Fire TV devices, with no way to connect it to PC.[1]

Controller variations
- There are currently two generations of the Amazon Fire Gaming Controller. The first generation does not include voice control or a microphone port at the bottom, and the buttons for ⏪, ⏯, ⏩ are located at the bottom center of the controller. Second generation controllers does not have media control buttons and ɢᴀᴍᴇᴄɪʀᴄʟᴇ button was replaced by ᴍɪᴄʀᴏᴘʜᴏɴᴇ button.

Steam
- Can be recognized as Xbox 360 controller but after manual reassignment. Controller cannot be found in Supported Controller Database, so Steam recognizes it as standard DirectInput device.
- Not capable of making full use of Steam Input. LED lights are not configurable and additional buttons are not visible in configuration menu.
Steam Link Application compatibility
- Works without any drivers on any operating system that supports Steam.[2]
- Can be used just to send input from a controller to a PC. Go into Streaming options, hit 𝗬 and disable video and audio streaming.
- Won't work great unless the streaming device is connected to LAN or a low latency Wi-Fi.
