Key points
- TERA was a free-to-play title in the US, Europe, and Korea.
- Hot-pluggable, well-designed in-game controller support with appropriate icons for both controllers and keyboard/mouse input.
- Although 64-bit update (Aug 8, 2020) has improved things drastically, some optimizations are required to make more use of the engine (QoL Improvements) [2][3][4][5]

Modifications
Editing INI Files And Terms Of Service (Europe)
The terms of service forbid the modification of the ini files (amongst other things) and can result in the suspension of one's game account.[8] However, a community manager has stated that "for the sake of clarification, you won't get banned for changing a line in a .ini file."[9]

Field of view (FOV)[citation needed]
|
- Go to the configuration file(s) location.
- Open
S1Input.ini .
- Go to the following line:
bEnableMouseSmoothing=true
Underneath this line, add a new line with the following:
Bindings=(Name="x",Command="fov N")
Where 'N' is the desired FOV value - note that 100 is a reasonable value to set this to. Also, note that there should be no semi-colon at the beginning of this line, unlike the lines which follow it. A visual representation of the change in FOV value can be seen here.
press "x" to activate ingame
Notes
- The game natively supports UI rescaling, so for different resolutions/FOVs, you can adjust the size of the UI via the 'UI Setting' tab in the in-game options menu.
|
- Frame rate cap can be removed by editing
S1Engine.ini
.

Issues fixed
Launcher gets stuck on "Applying Patch"
Launcher gets stuck on "Applying Patch"[citation needed]
|
This issue is usually solved by doing the following:
- Delete the file "gl.version", or "gl_v2.version".
- Start "TERA-Launcher.exe".
- Now the launcher updates itself.
- After patching, you are able to use the play button.
If it doesn't work, disable your Anti-Virus. Panda Cloud Anti-Virus, for example, causes this problem.
|
Or try downloading the patch manually here and then extract the game—version into your Tera folder. You will need to extract the top-level archive first and then extract the game. Version from the second archive.
Unable to Login to Launcher
Login fixes[citation needed]
|
There are several reasons this issue may occur, and it is usually characterised by the login page on the launcher constantly refreshing.
- Ensure you have javascript enabled, as this will affect your login on the launcher and on the website.
- Several anti-virus programs appear to interfere with the TERA login, and as of yet, this has not been fixed. Try disabling or reducing the stringency of your anti-virus before logging in, or (if your anti-virus software supports it) try setting the TERA launcher executable as an exception within the software.
- If you have modified your Windows host file, this may be the cause; reset your hosts file using the Microsoft Fix it, wizard.
