General information
Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends is a singleplayer and multiplayer third-person hack and slash game in the Dynasty Warriors and Warriors series.
It was released in Japan as Shin Sangokumusou 7 (Japanese: 真・三國無双7) for PlayStation 3 on February 28, 2013, in Taiwan region as Zhen San Guo Wu Shuang 7 (Traditional Chinese: 真·三國無雙7) on March 28, 2013 for PlayStation 3 and on June 27, 2013 for XBox 360, in North America for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on July 16, 2013, and in Europe on July 25, 2013.
It's expansion pack Xtreme Legends was released for PlayStation 3 in Japan as Shin Sangokumusou 7 Moushouden (Japanese: 真・三國無双7 猛将伝) on November 28, 2013, in Taiwan region as Zhen San Guo Wu Shuang 7 Meng Jiang Zhuan (Traditional Chinese: 真·三國無雙7 猛將傳) on December 18, 2013, in North America on March 25, 2014, and in Europe on April 4, 2014.
At the same time, the bundle of main game and expansion pack of Dynasty Warriors 7 was also released where it was released in Japan for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita as Shin Sangokumusou 7 with Moushouden (Japanese: 真・三國無双7 with 猛将伝) on November 28, 2013, and in Taiwan region for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita as Zhen San Guo Wu Shuang 7 with Meng Jiang Zhuan (Traditional Chinese: 真·三國無雙7 with 猛將傳). Japan received the PlayStation 4 version release in a later date on February 22, 2014. Meanwhile the game also released only for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in North America as Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition on March 25, 2014, in Europe on April 4, 2014, and in China as the same name with Taiwan region (Simplified Chinese: 真·三国无双7 with 猛将传) on March 20, 2015. The game would released again in Japan for Nintendo Switch as Shin Sangokumusou 7 with Moushouden DX (Japanese: 真・三國無双7 with 猛将伝 DX) on December 27, 2018, this time with all of the available DLCs except collaboration DLCs.
Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition received a PC port release in which also includes some of the exclusive collaboration DLCs. Although the PC port was marketed as ported directly from PlayStation 4 version, users found out that it was actually based on PlayStation 3 port with shaders enhancement from PlayStation 4 port[1]. The game also does not included online co-op mode which only exists in console version. It was released in North America and Europe on May 13, 2014, and in Japan and Taiwan region on May 23, 2014. Simplified Chinese was added in a later date and the game language can be freely changed as per user's settings in Steam[2] as opposed to previous language settings which based on the region user resided.
PC version also received a latter release as Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Definitive Edition, in which is the same as the Japanese release for Nintendo Switch, on Microsoft Store on December 7, 2018[3][4].
It will unlocks the counterpart DLC of Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires, vice versa and retroactively, if it exists, for purchased DLC. Meanwhile users reported that game loading may freeze on Windows 8 and later.

Issues fixed
Loading freezes on Windows 8 and later
- Freezes on loading screens on Windows 8 and later. The workaround for this is running the game in windowed mode and setting the executable to run in Windows 98 compatibility mode so that it only uses a single CPU core.[citation needed] This workaround is reported to not be perfect, though, and may not work for all players.
