Patches

The latest patch is Dragon Age: Origins 1.05. Applying this patch is highly recommended.

EA Account Log-In Issues

If you are having issues logging into Dragon Age: Origins with your EA Account it is most likely because you have special characters (like "#") in your password which the game does not support.

You will need to change your EA Account password to one without those special characters if you want to log in.

Popular Mods

Skip The Fade. In the Mage's Tower quest there is a section called "The Fade", this is known to be an incredibly annoying section as you must perform the actions in it in a specific order. There is no hint to this order and as it is a 'puzzle' section, you often wonder if you are failing to solve the puzzle or are working in the wrong order. This mod skips the annoying bit, gives you the benefits of having done it, and allows you to jump to the more interesting parts.

Console font is the file that is often missing from the install data. Install this to make console commands visible.

Errors

If the game gives you the error "Failed to find supported Video Card driver", open the 'configure' window from the patcher and disable Fullscreen mode. You can activate Fullscreen from the options in-game.

Multi-core AMD processors can cause the game to crash with no warning at seemingly random intervals. This can be fixed by opening the task manager while the game is running, right-clicking on the 'daorigins.exe' process, and opening the 'Set processor affinity' window. On quad-core computers, uncheck all but the last two processors, otherwise uncheck all but the last one. Unfortunately this setting isn't saved so you have to do it again every time you open the game.

Improvements

Performance increase with the "4GB patch" on Windows 64-bit

Note: Make sure to backup the executable before patching even though the 4GB Patch program makes a backup itself.

Note2: Make sure your game is fully patched first before applying the 4GB Patch.
