It seems that there's some conflict info about the edit you have made, specifically the part about the PlayStation controller support as it isn't mentioned in any patch notes. Are you sure that the controllers are supported by the game with Steam Input disabled?
Last time I check, Steam will use Steam Input's hook method on any games that were labeled as doesn't support the PlayStation Controllers natively by default.
In other words, if you brought the game on Steam (regardless of if it requires another launcher like EA App), Steam will automatically enable Steam Input if it detect that you launch the game that doesn't have native support for PlayStation controllers. Unless the game is using the Steam Input API, the controller support for PlayStation controllers should be set to "false" on the article.
