When I first tried playing Peace, Death! on Linux a while ago, it didn't work. I also had the same problem with Dungeon Souls, which uses the same GameMaker engine. I recently found the fix for Dungeon Souls:
Enable radeonsi_sync_compile
|
---|
Run the game with the environment variable |
So I was going to try the same fix with Peace, Death!, but now I've found that the Linux version of Peace, Death! — which doesn't seem to be listed on the Steam store page but does, in fact, exist — suddenly works out of the box. It looks like this is because the Mesa driver itself was updated to apply this tweak automatically for Peace, Death! and some other GameMaker games but not for Dungeon Souls. (See commit f1cc13727c6875ee5aae7656652dda231267cccf
in the Mesa repo; PCGW won't let me link to it. I think this update was included in Mesa 20.1.0.) So this fix shouldn't be required for Peace, Death! on a system with updated drivers, but it might be helpful information. Do we care about listing fixes which are required only when using outdated drivers? I don't know.
