Essential improvements

Save anywhere

Unlock save anywhere functionality[1]
  1. Go to the configuration file(s) location.
  2. Open settings.ini.
  3. Change SaveAnywhere=0 to SaveAnywhere=1.
  4. You will now be able to access a 'save' option in the settings menu.

Notes

Only save in locations where a phone booth is accessible. Anywhere else can break your save.

Restore licensed music

Use music restoration patch[2]
  1. Download Yakuza 0 Music Restoration Patch.
  2. Unpack the files to the installation folder and overwrite when prompted.

Notes

Restores two songs that were replaced in the English version: one used in the intro cutscene and opening credits, and one used in the ending credits.

Disable blur effect in first person view

The game applies a blur effect while in first person view that some might find unwanted.
Disable the blur effect in first person view using Special K[4]
  1. Install the Special K mini-plugin for the game.
  2. While running the game, press Ctrl+ Shift+← Backspace to bring up the Special K control panel.
  3. Expand the Yakuza 0 section.
  4. Enable Disable First-Person Blur
  5. Changes should take effect immediately.

Disable depth of field

The game includes a low-quality depth of field pass that some might find unwanted.
Disable the depth of field effect in first person view using Special K[4]
  1. Install the Special K mini-plugin for the game.
  2. While running the game, press Ctrl+ Shift+← Backspace to bring up the Special K control panel.
  3. Expand the Yakuza 0 section.
  4. Enable Disable Depth of Field
  5. Changes should take effect immediately.

  2. Press F5 while in-game to disable.

Disable ambient occlusion

Allows low-end users to disable ambient occlusion for a possible performance gain.

Prevent the game from changing volume level

The game increases the global audio level of the operating system in some cases (75% for the Sega logo at the start[7], 100% when using an arcade machine[8]).
