Widescreen resolution

Resolution settings can be customized further than what is available in-game.[1]
Set resolution in preferences.xml[1]
  1. Go to %APPDATA%\wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks
  2. Edit preferences.xml
  3. Change widescreenWidth and widescreenHeight to match your resolution.
  4. Change the aspectRatio value to match your aspect ratio:
    • 4:3 resolutions: 1.333000
    • 5:4 resolutions: 1.250000
    • 16:10 resolutions: 1.600000
    • 16:9 resolutions: 1.778000
    • 48:9 resolutions: 5.333333
    • 48:10 resolutions: 4.800000
  5. Save your changes.

Windowed

Set resolution in preferences.xml[1]
  1. Go to %APPDATA%\wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks
  2. Edit preferences.xml
  3. Change the windowedWidth and windowedHeight values to match your resolution.
  4. Change the aspectRatio value to match your aspect ratio:
    • 4:3 resolutions: 1.333000
    • 5:4 resolutions: 1.250000
    • 16:10 resolutions: 1.600000
    • 16:9 resolutions: 1.778000
    • 48:9 resolutions: 5.333333

  5. Save your changes.

High frame rate

Frame rate caps can be adjusted by editing variables in the engine_config.xml, which needs to be unpacked before it can be edited[citation needed]
  1. Go to <path-to-game>\res
  2. Make a backup of engine_config.xml
  3. Download WoT Binary XML Viewer/Editor, extract, install and run it.
  4. In WoT Binary XML Viewer/Editor, open <path-to-game>\res\engine_config.xml (as "All Files (*.*)").
  5. Change the maxFrameRate (gameplay FPS cap) and reducedFrameRate (garage FPS cap) values as desired.
  6. Save your changes.

Notes

Modifying settings in this file may cause problems with the game or potentially result in a banned account.[citation needed]
Changes will be overwritten by future patches.
