Essential improvements
Patches
The game comes with a built-in autopatcher. However, the latest patches can be downloaded manually from here (you'll likely have to download previous patches from the same site, as the official source was taken down).
Game crash on startup on systems with more than 8 threads
Game wont launch on systems with more than 8 threads. To solve this just reduce the amount of cores or disable HT/SMT on your BIOS/UEFI settings. Another workaround is reduce the amount of threads used by windows trough msconfig. In order to to that fallow the next steps. - Press "R+win key", on the windows write "msconfig" and press enter. - In msconfig go to "boot" tab and "advanced options", here check the "number of processors" checkbox and select 8 or 4 acept the changes and just restart your computer. In order to undo the changes just go again to msconfig and unckeck the "number of processors checkbox.
Windows 7 DirectX 10 Workaround
DirectX 10 rendering mode was broken after installing Platform update for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 (KB2670838). To run the game in DX10 mode without crashing, uninstall KB2670838 from Control Panel.

Make HBAO work in DX9 mode (Nvidia only)
Use Nvidia Profile Inspector[citation needed]
|
- Use inspector as per usual (open World in Conflict profile, etc.) and change flag
0x000B0000 to 0x000B0032 adding a "32" at the end. Could also try it with an "04" at the end if you prefer the effect stronger.
