Essential improvements
Eliminate CD-ROM swapping
The original game comes on four CD-ROM's. Disk swapping can be minimised or eliminated if you have multiple CD-ROM drives available by putting the games CD-ROM's in different drives, assuming that each drive will get a separate drive letter.
Use DOSBox |
---|
Notes With DOSBox you can IMGMOUNT each CD-ROM image onto a different virtual CD-ROM drive by adding lines similar to these to your DOSBox config: [autoexec] MOUNT C "UAKM" IMGMOUNT D "UAKM/CD/Under_a_Killing_Moon_CD1.iso" -t iso IMGMOUNT E "UAKM/CD/Under_a_Killing_Moon_CD2.iso" -t iso IMGMOUNT F "UAKM/CD/Under_a_Killing_Moon_CD3.iso" -t iso IMGMOUNT G "UAKM/CD/Under_a_Killing_Moon_CD4.iso" -t iso C: CD \KMOON MOON.EXE Alternatively if you copied the contents of the CD-ROMs as files to different directories: [autoexec] mount C "UAKM" mount D "UAKM/CD/DISK1" -label DISK1 -t cdrom mount E "UAKM/CD/DISK2" -label DISK2 -t cdrom mount F "UAKM/CD/DISK3" -label DISK3 -t cdrom mount G "UAKM/CD/DISK4" -label DISK4 -t cdrom C: cd \kmoon MOON.EXE |
HD/DVD Installer[5] |
---|
Notes User Wintermute on Vogons posted an installer to convert the four CD-ROMs to a single DVD, or to a HD installation which no longer requires disk swapping. |
