Key points
- DirectX 10 mode causes a performance hit.
- DirectX 10 mode can cause light sources to be visible through objects and terrain.
Performance Issues
DirectX 10 mode is not optimized and when enabled can cause large performance drops on high end computers. Disabling Ambient Occlusion can enable a 30FPS performance boost.
Some modern computers running in DirectX 10 mode may experience an issue with the Sun and other light sources being visible through the terrain and solid objects. Activating DirectX 9 mode can resolve this issue.
To activate DirectX 9 mode, add -nod3d10
to the launch parameters. The image quality is nearly identical but performance is radically better. Recommended for all computers, whether or not you feel it's totally necessary.

Crashes
Playing the game with keyboard & mouse, while having a controller plugged in, can cause the game to crash in-game.
