Issues fixed
"Internal Error" on launch
Setting up compatibility settings[citation needed]
|
- Right-click on the
ST.exe file and select "Properties".
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab and "Run this program as an administrator".
- Run the
ST.exe file to play the game.
If the issues still persist:
- Right-click on
ST.exe and select "Properties".
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab and enable Compatibility Mode (set it to "Windows 98/ Windows ME")
- Run the
ST.exe file to play the game.
Notes
- Does not occur if installed in a non-standard folder, or if the user has full permissions to the installation folder.
- This fix will also disable the intro videos. To enable them, set the compatibility mode to "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)"
|
External configuration program does not work
- On modern Windows, the
STConfig.exe
external configuration program does not appear to save settings properly, regardless if "Apply" was clicked.
Run as administrator[citation needed]
|
- Right click on the
STConfig.exe file and select "Run as administrator".
|
"The program can't start because d3drm.dll is missing"
Add d3drm.dll to the installation folder[1]
|
- In the Submarine Titans disc, go to
directx
- Open the
directx.cab file
- Copy the
d3drm.dll file and paste it into the installation folder.
- Digital releases include this file in the game directory by default.
|
“The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application”
Broken video playback, showing as black screen
Edit Video Script files manually, forcing playback from 24Bit to 16Bit[citation needed]
|
- Go to
<path-to-game>/video
- Open
startup.vps ( make a backup copy first if desired )
- In all lines starting with
PlayVideo : change the entries of COLOR_24BIT to COLOR_16BIT
- Repeat as above for the file
campaign.vps
Notes
- This should make the videos play, however there is likely a loss in color fidelity due to forcing them to play in 16Bit Color Mode
