OneShot: World Machine Edition is a remake of OneShot developed by Future Cat and published by Komodo. It is a port of the console version of the same name, originally released on September 22, 2022.

Because of OneShot's reliance on the user's native desktop and file system for puzzle solving and narrative purposes and the lack of mkxp support on consoles, the game was ported to a completely different engine[1] and an original virtual operating system interface was created in order to emulate the same experience as on desktop computers.

The virtual OS contains additional features, including a music player, cutscene art gallery, selectable colors and wallpapers for the desktop that can be collected throughout the game, and a profile gallery with newly written information on characters across the story. The OneShot game inside of the OS itself has minor improvements not found in the original release, such as full analog movement support and a visually updated fast travel menu.

While World Machine Edition was originally designed for consoles, a Windows version was announced on September 1, 2024 and set to release on September 30 on Steam, a little over two years after its original launch. The Windows version will include support for Steam Deck, allowing OneShot to be played on the handheld for the first time due to its self-contained nature.

A 50% off launch week discount for World Machine Edition will be available to owners of the original 2016 game.[2] The original version will not be removed from sale to provide players with options depending on their preference.[3][4]
