Wolfenstein fixes questions

Have a few questions regarding your just added "Slow Performance on even higher end Ryzen CPU's" fixes:

  • What is the performance difference between forcing this Threaded Optimization on vs. off?
  • Could this possibly be a Ryzen CPU-only issue?
  • Do you have Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling enabled in Windows?
  • What settings are you running the game at?
  • Do you have your GPU-drivers fully updated?
  • What should the +jobs_numthreads value be set too then? This limits the numbers of threads the game can use, but what value would have a similar effect as the Threaded Optimization workaround?

With this setting off I can get a consistent 60FPS with 4x SGSSAA on 2560x1440 with everything on max in Wolfenstein: Old Blood with 120 FOV. I had to turn down settings before doing this due to lag in larger areas.

I am running Windows with Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling on.

I am unsure if it's a Ryzen only problem, the last time I played the game I had a significantly weaker PC.

My drivers are the latest ones.

I would guess that +jobs_numthreads 0 would be the same, since that tells the game not to use multiple CPU's to my knowledge.

My pc specs are: Windows 11 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Nvidia Geforce GTX 3060 Ti

Wait, SGSSAA is enabled in the Nvidia Control Panel right? Using this could possibly cloud results a bit? idk... But without Threaded Optimization forced off, what FPS did you get? Or did you just get input lag? (Sorry, haha, your wording is not conclusive...) So, what exactly are your performance numbers of normal default options vs +jobs_numthreads 0 vs threaded optimization forced off? Instead of using SGSSAA, could you maybe try to use Nvidia DSR to put the system under stress to get lower than 60 standardly? Then you get maybe a more reliable performance comparison? What do you think? Just asking this to verify this issue and its solution :)

Still think this is all a bit weird as I haven't heard honestly of this game having issues with multithreading/using multiple cores.... Are you also sure you have the latest BIOS update to solve possible CPU bottlenecks or issues? But looks like this issue should stay in, but never hurts to double-check.

Okay, I must be mistaken. I have been playing a lot of older games recently and must have gotten some other game mixed up in my mind because I get the same performance setting Threaded Optimization on or off now that i checked.

Thanks for making sure and hindering me from spreading misinformation, I'll be removing my contributions and making sure I have my facts in order more clearly next time.

No worries, but especially thanks for retesting and willing to listen to feedback/questions :) But keep up your contributions as the contribution itself was of good quality :)
