Battle.net is a gaming service, social networking service and digital distribution platform operated by Blizzard Entertainment.
It serves as the digital distribution platform and DRM mechanism for all currently supported Blizzard games. It also has social network function. With the exception of a few like the Call of Duty series, most modern titles published by Blizzard usually requires the Battle.net launcher to be running, and most games requires a constant internet connection. It should be noted that older games requires an Classic Battle.net account in other to play, as they were differ from the modern Battle.net account.
To protect its users, Battle.net supports two-factor authentication via either SMS and the Battle.net authenticator on the Battle.net mobile app.[1][2]
