Windows

Version Differences

The best version is available from the developer's website, which provides both a Steam key and a DRM free version (the same executable as from GOG.com).

Issues And Fixes

Mouse Cursor Missing

Disabling mouse pointer trails fixes this issue.[1]

DirectX

The game requires DirectX but does not install it itself. You will need to install DirectX separately.

Run Game On Integrated Graphics

This is possible using a utility called Swiftshader, which offloads shader processing onto the CPU. However, this comes at a heavy performance price.[2]

Enable Vsync

Open the config file at C:\Documents\Almost Human\Legend of Grimrock\grimrock.cfg

Change verticalSync = 1 to code>verticalSync = 2.

Save Game Data

Save Game Folder Location

  • Windows:
    C:\Documents\User\[Username]\My Documents\Almost Human\Legend of Grimrock\

Controller Support

The developers have said the game was designed solely for use with keyboard and mouse, but fans have already started trying to get Xbox 360 controller support working in-game.[3]

System Requirements

Mac & Linux

Coming to Mac & possibly Linux soon

WINE

Some users have suggested that it is possible to run Grimrock on Mac and Linux via Wine. The most popular method on Mac is to use the Porting Team wrapper. On Linux it may be possible to play the game by installing Windows DLLs via Wine tricks (required DLLs include DirectX dlls and Visual C dlls).
