The Task Manager is an application built into Windows that allows managing and ending running processes. To launch the Task Manager use any of the following methods:

  • Right-click the taskbar and choose Task Manager
  • Open the Start Screen/Start Menu and enter taskmgr (on Windows XP press Win + R then enter taskmgr)
  • Hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc
  • Hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete and choose Task Manager
  • On Windows 8, hit Win + X (or right-click the Start corner) and chose Task Manager.
