Template:Infobox Sid Meier's Pirates! was first released in 2004, developed by Firaxis Games. Running on the Gamebryo engine, it is stable on modern systems, although some users have reported game-breaking issues on their systems. The most recent patch for Windows was released on August 11, 2005.

This issue has been present since release. Although the 2005 [patch] addressed many issues, some users (especially those with high spec, modern systems) still experience low frame rates, with currently no available solution.
