Widescreen Support
By default, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time does not support widescreen resolutions. However, with a bit of modding, this can be changed.
- Download the WideScreen Gaming Forum's (WSGF) Universal Widescreen Patcher (UniWS)
- Extract the ZIP file wherever you prefer, and open "uniws.exe"
- Under "Game," select "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time"
- Locate the folder in which POP.EXE is located (typically, the root folder in which the game has been installed)
- NOTE: While you can click on "Find it for me...," this process is quite lengthly (depending on the number of files on your hard drive), and is not reccomended
- Enter your monitor's screen width and hight (in pixels) in the provided boxes
- Your monitor's resolution can be found by visiting WhatIsMyScreenResolution.com
- Select "Patch"
- After changing the resolution, your UI in-game will likely be only partially visible. To change this, find your "Hardware.ini" file for the game (typically located within the root folder in which the game has been installed)
- Locate
CanStretchRect=
(under[CAPS]
)and verify that it is set to 0 - Save and close "Hardware.ini"
- Right click on the "Hardware.ini" file, and select "Properties"
- Check "Read-Only," and then select "Okay." Now, the game will no longer change the settings you just wrote.
- After booting up the game, your new resolution should be found under Graphics settings, and your UI should be visible.

Issues Fixed
Extreme Amounts of Fog
In certain cases, users may see an excess amount of fog in-game. This is apparent on the main menu screen (if all that can be seen is a lit torch), and in a number of areas within the game. To fix this issue,
- Locate your "Hardware.ini" file (typically located within the root folder in which the game has been installed), and open it with a text editor
- Change the following values as noted:
ForceVSFog=1 InvertFogRange=0
- Save the file
- Right click on the "Hardware.ini" file, and select "Properties"
- Check "Read-Only," and then select "Okay." Now, the game will no longer change the settings you just wrote.
