Patches
Patches are available to update the game and remove Tages DRM.
Unofficial Patch
This fan-made patch focuses on improving the English localisation and restoring text that was not translated from German in the original game. However it also fixes bugs and oversights relating to achievements and quests, in addition to offering a number of optional tweaks to gameplay, which means it may still be of interest to those not playing in English.
Switching Language
If you bought the game in the international version and wan't to change the language to German follow these steps
- To change the language in Anno 1404, first download the German demo version. You can do this for example from chip.de.
- Once the download is complete, open the .exe file and install the demo. If you have already installed the full version, make sure that you install the demo version in a different folder.
- Openthe Windows Explorer and then go to the folder where you installed the demo version. This should default to "C: \ Program Files \ Ubisoft \ Related Designs \ Anno 1404 (Demo)".
- Then open the folder "maindata" and copy the file "ger0.rda" on your desktop or other independent folder.
- Once the file is copied, you can uninstall the demo version
- Then open the maindata folder of the full version. This can normally be found under "C: \ Program Files \ Ubisoft \ Related Designs \ Anno 1404".
- Copy the "ger0.rda" file from the demo version to this location.
- Open the File %APPDATA%\Ubisoft\Anno1404\Config\Engine.ini in a Text editor and edit the line <LanguageTAG>eng</LanguageTAG> to read <LanguageTAG>ger</LanguageTAG>
- The game should now start in German
Switching Language for Venice
- The process is similar as for the main game. However the language pack can not be obtained from the demo Version. Instead it can be gotten here or in various other places on the internet.
- copy the ger0.rda of the addon into the directory Anno 1404\addon
- Open the File %APPDATA%\Ubisoft\Anno1404Addon\Config\Engine.ini in a Text editor and edit the line <LanguageTAG>eng</LanguageTAG> to read <LanguageTAG>ger</LanguageTAG>
Once the files have been replaced, Anno 1404 Venice should start in German
