Patches

Nox Quest

Nox Quest adds new multiplayer modes and patches the game to version 1.2.
The Origin version includes this patch, but does not enable it by default.[2]
The GOG.com version already includes this patch.

Other

Nox GUI is an unofficial launcher patch which improves compatibility with Windows 7+.[3]

Issues fixed

Flickering title screen or black screen on startup

Run Nox in Windows 98 / Windows ME compatibility mode to avoid this issue.
The GOG.com version already includes this fix.
Set compatibility mode[citation needed]
  1. Right-click the Nox shortcut (or NOX.EXE).
  2. Choose Properties.
  3. On the Compatibility tab choose Run this program in compatibility mode for.
  4. Choose Windows 98 / Windows ME.
  5. Click OK to save your changes.

"Westwood Online is not installed on this computer" error

Install Westwood Online

Install Westwood Online.

Enable Quest add-on for Origin version

Modify registry settings[2]
  1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\
  2. If the key Westwood doesn't exist then right-click the key from above, add a new Key and name it Westwood
  3. Right-click Westwood and add a new Key and name it Nox
  4. Right-click Nox and add a new DWORD, name it SKU, and give it a hexadecimal value of 2500.
  5. Click OK.
