- The Windows version has issues on modern systems. The DOS version (on the same CD or sold separately) works perfectly in DOSBox.
- Requires the CD to uninstall the game.
Issues And Fixes
Running from the hard drive only
To install the game fully under DosBox, first do a full install. Then copy the contents of the CD to a new directory. For example, if the game is installed to c:\games\alife, copy the cd contents to c:\games\alife\cd. Next, edit the afterdos.ini file to point the CD Path to that directory.
This works the same for Windows, except the file to edit is alife.ini.
Issues unresolved
Tutorial in Windows version doesn't work
Under Windows 7-64 bit, the tutorial window appears, but nothing else happens. Any user input will show a dialog box saying the tutorial was completed.
