General information
Availability
- Hi-Rez has also made GOTY edition available which unlocks all classes, perks and equipment. It's available for purchase through Steam or in-game.
Essential improvements
Editing tribes.ini
An explanation to the various items in the game's ini file can be found here.
- The ini can be modified to lower graphics further than the in game menus allow to boost performance, remove the native 60 fps lock, heighten graphics to more than the game normally allows or otherwise make specific choices as to what graphics should be shown.
Safe Mode
Hi-Rez added the option to run Tribes: Ascend in safe mode, which runs the game with default settings and lowest texture quality. To access safe mode, open the Tribes: Ascend Launcher, click the settings icon, and enable “Run game in safe mode.”

Physics Glitches
- Tribes: Ascend features a number of physics issues that will sometimes propel the player at high speeds when they hit certain objects at high speeds. One example of this is the flag stand on Raindance, which can throw the player into the air, sometimes hitting the invisible ceiling. This has been an issue since at least beta; likely alpha as well.
Command line parameters
- To input these, start the launcher and click on the cogs in the upper-right corner.
