Hi Andytizer,

This game is not linked to Steam, the CD key you receive in the retail package or by buying on Steam are one and the same type. Players are asked to enter their CD key when attempting to play Versus online for the first time. However, these keys are not actually 'registered' or consumed when entered, so a number of different people can use the same CD key (but not concurrently).

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory has 3 modes: the single player campaign, co-op, and Versus. The single player/co-op campaigns use a different engine than Versus -- the prior has no problems rendering on modern machines, while the latter has many issues (thus the need for this page).

VS mode is just short for Versus -- technically, the official name is "Spies vs. Mercenaries".

This is an relatively old, but great game. There's nothing quite like it and it has been difficult to find fixes without having to dig up old threads on next to dead forums.

Sincerely,
