See Game Progress & Saved Decks.

Game Progress & Saved Decks

The game creates a Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos Common folder in the folder that also contains the <path-to-game>

The following types of files can be found in there:

.ydr files contain recorded demos.
.ydc files contain saved decks.
The system.dat file is related to the game progress.
The currently used deck is saved inside the game folder itself <path-to-game>\deck.ydc
Game Progress Transfer/Backup[1]
  1. Open the Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos Common folder.
  2. Copy any decks you want (.ydc files) along with system.dat and place them in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos Common folder on the target PC (Overwrite if necessary). If it does not exist there, make sure to launch the game at least once or search for the folder, in case it was created somewhere else.
  3. Edit the registry.
  • Find the game's registry entry. Default: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KONAMI\Yu-Gi-Oh! Power Of Chaos\system
  • flcrc contains a hex representation related to the game progress.
  • CommonDir contains the path to the game's common folder.
  • Search for the game's registry entry on the target PC.
  • Either edit the flcrc key manually to match the one of your source PC, or create a .reg file on your source PC by rightclicking on the system folder and choosing "Export" and open it up on your target PC to automatically add the registry key. Bear in mind that the CommonDir may differ however, depending on your installation path, so you may have to modify the path after all.

Notes

This method works for all the Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos games, seen as they share one common folder and registry entry.

Issues fixed

Not working in window mode

The game may refuse to run or simply crash in window mode.
Disable Desktop Composition[2]
  1. Open the game's compatibility settings.
  2. Check Disable desktop composition.

Force 60fps on original 1.0 version of the game

Original release of the game does not support the "-speedy" startup parameter, but we can force it easily.
Modify a hex value in the game executable
  1. Download and install an hex editor, such as HxD;
  2. Make a backup of <path-to-game>\yugi_pc.exe;
  3. Open yugi_pc.exe in a hex editor, and goto offset 0xB73C;
  4. Change byte 1E into 3C, and save the file.
