Issues fixed

The game crashes on Windows 2000 and later

Disable/remove any compatibility settings
  1. Right-click the games executable VIRUS.EXE and go to "Properties" then "Compatibility"
  2. Make sure that every box is un-ticked.
  3. Run the game.

The game runs extremely fast, making the game unplayable

Allows the game to be playable on modern systems.
Limit the frame rate with DxWnd
  1. Download and extract the latest version of DxWnd to <path-to-game> or wherever works best.
  2. Run DxWnd. Right-click in the middle of DxWnd's window and select "Add".
  3. Name the profile/game, and browse to <path-to-game> and select the VIRUS.EXE file. Click "OK".
  4. Right-click the profile that was just created and select "Modify". Go to the "Main" tab and un-tick "Run in a window".
  5. Go to the "Timing" tab and enable "Limit". Set the limit to 33 msec to run the game at 30 FPS.

Notes

To run the game in fullscreen, under the main tab, un-tick Run in a window.
Increase the milisecond delay to decrease the frame rate further if needed. Calculate the msec by dividing 1000 by the FPS.
