Warnings

This game requires an internet connection on launch.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 is a third-person skateboarding and tricks game developed by Vicarious Visions in cooperation with Beenox and published by Activision. It is the first title in the Tony Hawk's series to utilize Unreal Engine 4.

Built as a single game with persistent progress, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 consists of a remake of both the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater first released on PlayStation in 1999, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 released in 2000. In addition to enhancing the visuals, the collection expands on the titles by featuring new skaters, challenges, music tracks, tricks introduced in later games of the franchise, and an online multiplayer mode.[3][4] Three songs of the original soundtracks are excluded from the remake due to licensing issues.[5]

A playable demo of the game, limited to the Warehouse level with Tony Hawk as the only playable character, was made available as a pre-order bonus on August 14, 2020.

The full game was released for Windows on Epic Games Store on September 4, 2020, making use of Denuvo Anti-Tamper DRM. The release was met with critical acclaim, as the reviewers favorably compared the gameplay feel of the remake to its origins, noted improvements over more recent titles of the series and praised the modern visuals.[6][7][8] On September 14, Activision announced that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 was the fastest title in the franchise history to have reached one million units sold.[9]

On the day before launch, players expressed concerns about reported limitations of the in-game online mode, while the developer announced working on complementing the existing option to invite friends for public matches with private skate sessions, party migration and leader promotion features to be introduced later in the fall.[10][11] An update released on October 20, 2020 brought the announced features into the game, allowing to host private online sessions with the options to free skate and select user-created maps.[12]

The game received its first content update on November 6, 2020, introducing new challenges, cosmetic items, changes to the progression system and multiplayer playlist randomization.[13]

Essential improvements

Skip intro videos

Move or delete intro video files[16]
  1. Navigate to <path-to-game>\Base\Content\Movies
  2. Move or delete all .mp4 video files that end with _30fps
Removing ALC-INTRO-FINAL_1080P_30fps.mp4 causes the intro movie to become unavailable for playback in the game.

Play offline

Only available on the Steam version.

Patch 1.1 added the ability to play the game offline on a Steam Deck.[17] However, this can be enabled on all PCs running Windows or Linux by setting a launch parameter.[18]

Linux

Add the following to the launch options: steamdeck=1 %command%
There is no need to do this on Steam Deck, it is enabled by default.

Windows

Add the following to the launch options: cmd /c "set steamdeck=1 && %command%"
