EDIT: The security update discussed below is being rolled back.
The 9/22 client-side security update has introduced a new, kernel-level driver designed to fight memory-based cheats and exploits and protect the executable. This, however, has a number of major drawbacks:
- Highly-insecure.
- Has been reported to prevent the game from launching.
- Failure of the driver results in a
SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION
BSOD.
I'd add this info to the article, but given how recent the issue is, and given how some of the issues involved are beyond my technical comprehension, I'm leaving this here for the community to dissect.
