There were two DLC's for the Xbox Version "Expansion Pack" and "Kashyyyk Assault" Were Nether ported to the PC or was Kashyyyk Assault ported via a patch?

About "Graphically downgraded in comparison to the Xbox version"

What does that mean? Are the graphics on PC worse on Xbox like with Cars 2 on PC? I've played the Xbox version and I haven't seen any major differences or minor ones that seem noticeable to me.

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

Frankly, i don't think that point is even true. I have always considered the PC version to be the best and looking at comparisons on YT reinforces this notion. I have removed the key point as it's extremely dubious at best and completely fake at worst. Key points are deprecated and should be replaced by intros anyway.
Cars 2 is a completely different story. In that case, they decided to port the the Wii version to PC instead of the PS3/360 one. It was a common practice with Disney titles back in the day as other games like Toy Story 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End suffered the same fate.

"Frankly, I DON'T THINK that point is even true" So you haven't checked, but you decided to change key point in the article anyways xDDD.

2005 Battlefront II is in fact downgraded graphically to the Xbox version. It has worse shadowing on maps, lacks lighting effects in places and has hardcoded 800x600 static menus instead of animated ones, like on the Xbox.

Here's a little snippet I've found of YT, that shows some of those problems: https://youtu.be/Em13oPSL05c?t=291

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

I have personal experience with the game. Additionally, that's exactly the video i was referring to when i mentioned "comparisons on YT". All i see is different lighting. Not better or worse, just different. A deliberate artistic difference between versions, something that wasn't uncommon back then.

Patrxgt (talkcontribs)

"All i see is different lighting. Not better or worse, just different" Yeah, no shadowing on objects on map and missing bloom effects are "a deliberate artistic difference between versions" for sure xD. Besides, not seeing it as a downgrade doesn't mean you can co around and delete parts of the articles. If something, you could at least change it to something like "Has different graphical aesthetic on Xbox".

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

The recording of the Xbox version is extremely dark. You can see the same shadowing on the crashed spaceship and the rocks on the PC version too, the footage is just not as dark. And the change in lighting is just something i see as comparable to GTA games using a different timecyc for every version back in the day.

Thank you for the link, @Demon272481. Another point in favour of the PC port NOT being a graphical downgrade compared to the Xbox version.

Patrxgt (talkcontribs)

"i see as comparable to GTA games using a different timecyc for every version back in the day" Well, it is good example, because timecyc.dat for PC versions of classic 3D GTA games were in fact unfinished versions and lacked values from the console versions, which made them look at least a little better. But since it looks like I've got outvoted, then I'll change it to something more proper.

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

No, that point had to be removed, not changed. There is no downgrade. Case closed.

Patrxgt (talkcontribs)

Too late, changed it anyways.

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

"Animated menus" aren't something that is key point worthy. It wasn't back when key points were a legit thing and it sure is not now that key points are considered deprecated.

Patrxgt (talkcontribs)

Well, it is major stylistical difference, so I've added it. If you don't like it, I can change it to just DLC content, but I don't see it as necessary.

Jigen123 (talkcontribs)

I have reworded the point to be only about the missing DLC. Changes in menus aren't a "major stylistical difference". A lot of games had different menus on PC back in the day (example PoP WW using a circular main menu on consoles, when on PC it's just a list) but it has never been something key point worthy.
By the way, the original point about the PC version being graphically downgraded turned out to be completely false, as i correctly stated in my very first reply to this thread. Try being less aggressive next time. Admitting being wrong is not a crime, nobody will shame you for it.
